Is the Day Of Coordinator different than the Month Out Coordinator?
First off, you cannot bring in a wedding coordinator out the day of your wedding and say “ok, coordinate my wedding!” The Day of coordinator, will need to know all the details of your event to help in any way shape or form! The Day of coordinator is the Month out Coordinator package that we offer because we will need that amount of time to gather all the information for that day to help you through your best day ever! We will have one meeting prior (About a month before your big day) to go over all of your details and vendor information. It is crazy how many small details are left to be completed a month out, and we can help you stay organized as well as keep your vendors all on the same page.
Why is it a bad idea to use family members as your wedding planner?
You want your wedding planner to be someone that is not involved in your wedding. You do not want to have to count on family members or friends to help set up your menu cards, pictures, seating chart, etc. while they are worried about getting ready to attend your wedding. You want someone completely separate that can solely focus on your big day from a professional standpoint. Let your family and friends enjoy your wedding instead of running around the day of like a maniac most likely pulling in other family members for help because they did not know how much work it is to coordinate all the details!
What is the difference in a venue coordinator and a wedding coordinator?
A venue coordinator works for the hotel and oversees the on-site catering and set up team. They are there strictly to make sure they are fulfilling their contractual obligations that deal only with the venue. They are not involved at all with the vendors or any set up of your personal belongings. They most likely will leave early and set the banquet supervisor or catering captain to finish out the rest of your wedding. A wedding coordinator solely works for you and making sure your vision comes to fruition on the day of your wedding! When meeting with your venue ask if their coordinator will set up escort cards, send out a timeline to your vendors and direct them to their designated spaces as well as coordinating all the other details. I am pretty sure they will say no and a lot of venues actually require you to have a wedding planner on site during your wedding day! You want someone who cares about the entire wedding outcome, not just their contract obligation duties!
How early should couples start to plan a wedding?
We recommend to our couples to start planning their weddings a year out. If you wait to long all the wedding vendors will be booked and it will be tough running around last minute trying to get everything you dreamed of. Typically, vendors will book up to 18 months in advance and require some sort of deposit. Keep in mind to first book your venue and wedding date then move on to the key player vendors, such as DJs, photographers, rentals and florists.
