What Your Guests Really Care About
What do your guests really care about? What will make your wedding memorable and fun for your friends and family to laugh and reminisce about for years to come? Guests have spent money, honey to attend your wedding and it can add up quickly! Paying for hotel rooms, new outfits, transportation, taking time off work, baby sitters, and so on and so forth. So now let us think about what guests really want when attending your wedding!
Comfort
Your guests want to be comfortable! They are all done up in suits and ties and have their nails done, hair done, everything did (Drake reference anyone?) and they want to look nice! Make sure you pick your venue based on the time of year of your wedding date. If its July at 4:00p.m. in Florida make sure that it is inside with AC, or else people will be soaked from sweat or rain, or both. But one of those is definitely guaranteed! Also think about the ladies walking around in heels for hours and when it is time to get on the dance floor, have some flip flop or other shoe options so you will see all your guests out on the dance floor parting with you!
Food & Booze
Ok, raise your hand if you love free food and booze! MEEE, as well as all your guests! Keep in mind your guests have spent a lot of money to come celebrate you! Have plenty of food options that anyone can enjoy, and if your budget allows open bar, please! A new trend is to add in a late-night snack nearing the end of your wedding which all the guests will be sure to remember and enjoy!
Entertainment/Uniqueness of Wedding
Your guests are always looking for the next hot trend at weddings and can not wait to see what you have in store for them! How can you create these sharable moments at your wedding? Think about having an interactive beverage station, a fun way to have guests find their seats, or something that is completely out of the norm! Your guests will all be posting and talking about it for years to come!
Convenience
This is a very important topic-CONVENIENCE! Now it seems that weddings last the entire weekend. You have the Friday rehearsal/welcome dinner, Saturday the wedding and Sunday the whole wedding party will ride the struggle bus to brunch and that will end the great weekend! Think about your guests when booking your venue. Make sure the venue has excellent and varied room options for your guests, since they will most likely have to stay two nights. You want the accommodations to be nice and not too expensive. If most guests are flying in make sure your destination has easy access to the airport. You do not want your guests to have to fly in, rent a car and then have another 3-hour drive ahead of them just to get to your wedding destination. This will limit the number of guests that will actually attend your wedding. Finally, guests are not going to want to have to drive around once they are on site. Try and keep all activities where your room block is located!
Yes, of course your friends and family are there to celebrate you, but just keep them in the back of your mind when planning your fabulous big day! You want them to remember what a fun time they had celebrating you and your new boo, not how hot it was or how much the food sucked! So please do me a favor and think of your guests ☺
